Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police state initial examinations show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

An important representative said the vandalism made him without words and required to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
